Tulasi Arla

Tulasi Arla is a Computational Biologist and Research Scientist at RexCrux Research Laboratory. She works at the intersection of structural biology, bioinformatics, and machine learning to make protein-variant analysis more biologically and clinically meaningful.

Her work centers on FoldShield++, RexCrux's post-prediction structural-intelligence platform for identifying biologically significant conformational changes in proteins. The platform is designed to detect subtle structural shifts, perturbations, and potential failure signals that conventional similarity measures such as TM-score and RMSD may miss. Tulasi contributes to biological validation, structure-pair selection, and interpretation of platform results, ensuring FoldShield++ outputs remain grounded in testable biological questions.

Her experience spans clinical genomics, molecular diagnostics, structural biology, and computational tool development. She has studied beta-thalassemia variants in South Indian patient populations, contributed to research on infertility and DNA-fragmentation testing, and developed Python-based tools for simulating viral recombination.

Tulasi holds an M.S. in Bioinformatics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology. Her technical toolkit includes PyMOL, FoldX, PyRosetta, TM-align, and AlphaFold, enabling her to move fluidly between biological interpretation and computational structural analysis.
